USING WHAT WE KNOW: Homemaker, doctor, lawyer, spy. We've come a long way in a few centuries. Can we use what we know, what we do daily in writing a historical romance? Absolutely. In fact, we'll have better books for doing it. Beyond the careful research and the esoteric details we have our own expertise and we'll explore how we can use it to write a book we can sell.

Fee: $20.00

PLOTTING YOUR HISTORICAL ROMANCE. As we all know, the plot of any romance is Boy Meets Girl; They Fall in Love. That's easy enough. The difficulty can come in choosing your subplot: the conflict, intrigue, etc. We'll discuss coming up with appropriate and unique subplot for your future best-seller.

Fee: $20.00

WRITING STEAM. For many romance writers, sex scenes can be the toughest to write. In this session, we'll discuss how much sex, how hot the sex needs to be, and how many awful (or not so awful) euphemisms there are for various body parts. Writing steam should be fun and not difficult. We'll work on reaching perfect levels of comfort and "art"

Fee: $20.00

CHARACTERIZATION. Do your characters have a tendency to do their own thing? Do the wrong thing (for the story or the era)? Are they two-dimensional or too familiar? Romance is a character-driven genre. Until we have our characters clear, compelling, and under control, we don't have a romance. We'll work on developing unique, compelling characters- and keeping them that way for 300 pages.

Fee: $20.00
