You Cannot Capture A Dream
Until You Reach For It
"Sometimes it feels like I'm submitting boomerangs instead of manuscripts."
Karen Elizabeth Rigley ,1985 Writers Digest Diary

Rainbows capture color and light the way a writer attempts to capture imagination. We try to offer our readers stories to entrall or enchant them, to tease or enlighten them and to lure them inside our characters or captivate them with romance. We weave rainbows out of sentences. Close your eyes and listen to your writing through a reader's senses. Are you creating the effect you want or are you cheating yourself and your readers? Picture a rainbow aglow with intensity and nuance, then infuse your writing with such a spectrum, accented by shadow and substance to create manuscripts with magic. Karen Elizabeth Rigley

A writer must write. It is an obession, a job, a dream. Blank paper challenges us to create and communicate. We are both artist and slave -- grumbling when we can't write and grumbling while we do; planning the next writing project and praying to complete the current one. We may be writers by choice or writers by accident, writers full-time or part-time, beginners or pros, but every one of us shares the passion to write. Karen Elizabeth Rigley

It's time to polish up your manuscripts and tuck them in the mail to the editor of your choice. The art of writing is a creative process; yet getting manuscripts into print is a marketing process. The better we market our jewels of creativity, the better chance of publication. You cannot capture a dream until you reach for it. Karen E. Rigley

WORD WAVE
A lifetime is not long enough
To drain the pulsing tide
Flowing from the reservoir
Held in a writer's mind.
