Biography
LINDA'S interest
in historical romance began with her first reading of GONE WITH
THE WIND and FOREVER AMBER. A former elementary teacher, Linda
began writing and selling short stories to children's magazines
while at home raising her two children, but her love of romance
ultimately changed the course of her career.
Born and raised in Northwest Indiana, Linda graduated from Purdue
University with a master's degree in education. She taught
elementary school for six years, but after the birth of her first
child, gave up her teaching career to pursue a long-time dream of
putting her stories to paper.
Having grown up in the Midwest, Linda likes to endow her heroines
with solid values, deep loyalties and strong convictions - which
often get them into trouble. "Through romance novels,"
Linda believes, "we can experience life the way we would
like it to be. We can share in the triumphs and tragedies of
heroines who take chances, live boldly and pursue their heart's
desires. How many of us can say that about our own lives?"
As an Irishman, Linda is a true believer in romance. After a
fairy-tale courtship with husband Jim, they were married in a
sunset ceremony along the ocean in Key West, Florida, where they
now reside for part of the year. The rest of their time is spent
in Valparaiso, Indiana, and Chicago, Illinois.
"Rhythmically smooth and flawless, Ms. O'Brien's writing
style is unforgettable." ~Rendezvous
