 Dear Readers,

What an exciting and busy year 2008 is going to be!

When I was developing ideas for my next series, I decided to spotlight heroes since my last series highlighted women.  After visiting my aunt in Minnesota, I realized the area would be a perfect setting for the first two books.  My Dads in Progress series for Silhouette Special Edition, which begins in February with THE DADDY DILEMMA, introduces the Barclay brothers--three men born to be fathers.  Nathan Barclay and his son Kyle have their lives turned upside down when Sara Hobart--who donated her eggs to Nathan and his wife now deceased--visits Rapid Creek, Minnesota in hopes of meeting her son.  Because of an automobile accident and surgery that left Sara barren, she wants to feel like a mom, even for a day.  Yet Nathan is reluctant to have his peaceful life with Kyle disturbed.  He knows something important is missing in his life, but he hesitates to open his heart to love once more.

The second book in the series will be released in June.  Readers will know veterinarian Sam Barclay from the first book and realize his broken heart hasn't yet mended.  However, when his vet tech, Corrie Edwards, asks him to be a sperm donor so she can be a mom, he has to decide to put betrayal in the past to find happily-ever-after with Corrie.

Since my favorite location on the planet is Albuquerque, New Mexico, I planned to set Ben Barclay's romance there.  Ben appears in the first two books of the series and readers have learned he's more guarded than Nathan or Sam.  An assistant district attorney, his job is his life.  Sam, Ben and Nathan were deserted by their mother when they were small.  That even has affected each of them differently.  Ben is slow to trust.  When Sierra Girard appears at his office to tell him she is pregnant with his child, he's not sure he believes her.  In the course of getting to know each other  and a miscarriage scare, they decide to marry.  But Ben's profession puts him in harm's way and Sierra is afraid he will never truly unlock his heart for her to step in.

Besides my Dads in Progress series, I also had the pleasure to be part of  a new Silhouette Special Edition continuity series about the Wilder family.  In HER MR. RIGHT?, Isobel Suarez, a social worker at Walnut River General Hospital, falls for the investigator from the state attorney general's office, Neil Kane.  Neil never expects to fall in love during his
stay in Walnut River.  Although Isobel has family obligations, Neil takes them in stride.  Neil's investigation pits him and Isobel against each other.  But they learn with forgiveness and trust love can truly conquer all.

I hope you enjoy all of my releases in 2008.  I'd love to hear which of the Barclay brothers is your favorite.  Readers can e-mail me or write to P.O. Box 1545, Hanover, PA 17331.

Have a wonderful year!

Best,
Karen Rose Smith
