ATLANTA HEROES has been such a fun series to write. With each new story I find myself fascinated with not just the hero and heroine, but with their friends and family, too. Every character jumps off the page for me. In last fall's Because of a Boy, it was Robert Livingston who kept insisting that he had an amazing story of his own to tell. And man, does To Protect the Child start off with a bang!

Robert, a high-profile neurosurgeon, faces life and death on the job every day, so it's only natural that it would take another adrenaline junkie to snag his attention. Only, he doesn't realize who he's dealing with when Alexa Vega is wheeled into his O.R.—she has amnesia and remembers nothing about the violent confrontation that left her with severe head trauma. But there's something in Alexa's drive to keep fighting in the midst of the nightmares that haunt her, and to protect a mysterious child no one knows anything about, that speaks to Robert.
